In this step, You will getting start the design layout for web reporting with ActiveReport Designer Studio. For the purpose, you must define the paper size, paper margin, paper orientation and printer setting first. ActiveReport Designer support all of paper and printer setting properties.
Let's assume that you want to work with letter paper size layout with portrait orientation. you can set the paper orientation in the printer setup dialog window.
1. Run the ActiveReport Designer Studio. In the File menu, Select [New Report]->[XML Report] to make empty report workspace using xml data binding.
or, you can make empty xml binding report in the toolbar.
2. After open the empty report workspace, click the page setup icon
in the toolbar (Ctrl+P) . The page setup dialog box will be apeared.
In the Report Settings Dialog box, you can set the Paper properties,
Printer properties, canvas grid setting and css style definition.
3. First step. You have to set up Printer Settings first. In the Printer Setting Dialog box, change the papersize to 'Letter' and orientation to 'Portrait'.
4. In the left pane, click the "Page Setup" to setup paper margin. All unit is twips. Grid setting and Styles edit will be described in ReportExpress manual. After setup the paper margin, click the OK button to close the Dialog box.
